The Estonian Kroon was the currency of the Baltic state of Estonia from 1992 until 2011, when it was replaced by the Euro. The name ‘kroon’ means ‘crown’. It is related to the currency of other Northern European countries, such as the Danish Krone, the Norwegian, Swedish and Icelandic Krona, and derived from the Latin word for crown, ‘corona’.
